Over a decade ago, during the holiday season, I was a patient at City of Hope. When I was finally discharged, my oncologist walked me through the pediatric ward. It was a moment I will never forget.
I met children facing battles no child should ever have to fight. And yet, what struck me most was not fear, but resilience – bright smiles, open hearts, and an incredible courage that stopped me in my tracks. That walk changed me. It shifted my gratitude into responsibility.
Since then, I’ve made it my mission to give back in a way that honors those children and the care that carried me forward. For the past 11 years, I’ve hosted an annual fundraising event at Chase’s Restaurant in La Verne. What began as a personal gesture of thanks has grown into a tradition rooted in community, generosity, and hope.
The team at Chase’s has been an extraordinary partner – welcoming us year after year and donating a portion of the evening’s proceeds to support the City of Hope Children’s Cancer Center. It is an honor to turn my own journey into a way to support theirs, and to do so alongside a business that so genuinely believes in giving back.
